Why does Nanda Kirti Dewan report only on these type of issues concerning only Nepalis? Is he a spokesman of AAGSU? Why is it that the editor has to report about Mani Kumar Subba's fake Indian citizenship like "CBI confirms Assam MP Subba's birth certificate is fake" ?(Aug 29, 2008)

I really agree with R.Pegu. What is happening to assamtimes??When there is so many burning issues in assam why they are giving so much importance to gorkhalis demand for autonomous. There are so many nepalis in Tamilnadu. Can they dare demanding a seperate gorkha autonomous council there?? It can only possible in Assam.

Dear Mr. Pegu, You should ask that question to the editor, write to them at editor@assamtimes.org. It's possible that perhaps Mr. Dewan has been given a brief to write about the Gorkhas only. It's time that the contributions of Gorkhas are brought to fore, we have been misunderstood for too long. As for Mr. Subba, his case is still in the court, so we cannot comment on this.

Dear Pegu, I am journalist by profession not a spokesman of any organisation. I admit to assume solidarity to all indigenous ethnic community of Assam so I am a Human Right activist. Time and again I am city correspondent for Assam Times in Guwahati and i am not in Delhi to report matter without in depth study of the news. All reports posted by me are events happened in presence of me. All your charges are baseless as I reported on Assamese Nationalism and many social issues. To see kindly author info and check it out.

For kind info of Saikia, Gorkhas are not demanding council in Assam, we are demanding separate state of Grokhaland to be carved out of West Bengal and the Gorkhas in Assam are just supporting that.

I'm a student here in darjeeling. I am very hurt by Mr. Pegu's stern comments against the Gorkha community! Why is it that Gorkhas are always treated as second grade citizens of India? The signature campaign was a simple, non-violent attempt to put forth the importance of the demand for Gorkhaland to the people of Assam be it nepali, bengali, assamese etc. It is sad that Mr.Pegu is giving communal colour to this signature campaign.
