Eviction Drive Begins at Rangajan Tea Estate Along Assam–Nagaland Border

NAZIRA, October 13, 2026 — The Nazira administration launched an eviction drive at Rangajan Tea Estate in Santak Grant, Bihubar, along the Assam–Nagaland border, on October 9 to clear approximately 560 bighas of allegedly encroached land.

The operation, reportedly initiated following the intervention of Nazira MLA Mayur Borgohain, involved a large team of administrative officials and Assam Police personnel.

Several JCB excavators were deployed to clear the land. The operation is expected to continue for several days, given the extent of the area involved.

Sources indicated that the vacated land may be used to rehabilitate flood-affected families, although further details of the proposed rehabilitation plan were not immediately available.
