13-Year-Old Boy Dies Saving Pet Dog During Nazira Floods
NAZIRA, July 30, 2026 — A 13-year-old boy from Bamun Pukhuri village in Nazira lost his life after reportedly rescuing his pet dog from floodwaters during the recent floods triggered by the overflowing Dikhow River.
According to local residents, the Class VII student, the only child of his parents, jumped into the floodwaters after seeing his dog being swept away by the strong current.
Residents said the boy managed to save the animal but was himself overpowered by the current. Despite efforts to save him, he was swept away and died.
The incident occurred amid widespread flooding that has devastated large parts of the Nazira region, where thousands of families have been displaced and suffered extensive losses.
The boy's parents had already lost their home and belongings in the floods. His death has left the family devastated and cast a pall of gloom over Bamun Pukhuri village.
Residents described the incident as a heartbreaking reminder of the bond between people and their animals, with many expressing grief over the loss of the young boy.
