Addl SP injured in clash

A senior police officer among 10 other securitymen have been injured in Cachar after they clashed with a group of protesters on the Silchar-Mizoram road on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Lailapool where the local hundreds of local residents blocked the road demanding immediate withdrawal of a toll gate.

When security forces tried to disperse them, the protesters turned violent and resorted to stone pelting leaving additional superintendent of police Dhruba Bora along with 12 other policemen injured. They are undergoing treatment at the Silchar Medical College Hospital.

When the protesters refused to exercise restraint, security forces resorted to blank firing to disperse them. At least 10 women are understood to have been missing in the incident.
