AICC move irks APCC

Utter disappointment seems to have gripped the Assam Congress legislators after the AICC has recommended Sanjoy Singh’s name for the Rajya Sabha membership from the state.

Nobody has disclosed their disappointment in public. But sources told Assam Times that the APCC in rank and file are dead opposed to the move to elect a candidate from UP who was closed to Rajiv Gandhi.

On the other hand, the party has yet to disclose the name of the third choice candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls slated for February 7. According to sources, either Bhubneswar Kalita or Kirip Chaliha is set to be fielded for the seat.
