A massive gathering in Sivasagar district pledged to go all out against Paresh Baruah two days after the banned insurgent outfit gave capital punishment for Partha Gogoi. Local people thronged in thousands at Gaurisagar on Friday with the bullet ridden body of the senior leader 24 hours after it was recovered along the Assam-Nagaland interstate boundary. Shouting slogans against ULFA(I), a section of surrendered ULFA militants called it an act of cowardice while the protesters warned Paresh Barua of dire consequences if he refuses to refrain from these activities.
Later, Gogoi's body was taken for cremation in presence of thousands of local residence at his ancestral village in Hatighuli areas 10 km away from Sivasagar town. ULFA(I) shot dead the fellow rebel alleging financial anomalies, conspiracies against the outfit. Gogoi, who joined the outfit 25 years back was the eastern commander of the outfit and was looking after the financial affairs.
