Silpi Divas celebrated

Assam celebrated Silpi Divas across the state to commemorate the death anniversary of Jyotiprasad Agarwalla on Friday. Cultural functions, Jyoti Sangeet competitions and seminars were organized in many places to mark the occasion. The central function at took place in Tezpur, the birthplace of the first Assamese film maker.

The NPS International Kids Film Festival is scheduled to kick off on November 24 with the participation of children from Italy, Sweden, Russia, Brazil, South Africa and the host country India. The tribal bodies in Assam are contemplating to hit the streets opposing the move to accord ST status to 6 ethnic communities. No organization has openly disclosed the disappointment. In a move that can definitely affect the hotel industry in Kaziranga, the National Green Tribunal has questioned the permission of so many hotels near the world heritrage site.
