A senior ULFA leader belonging to the Paresh Baruah faction is learnt to have met punishment for his alleged involvement in a financial scam.
According to sources, the ULFA (I) leader is believed to be Partha Pratim Gogoi who has been partially looking after the finance side for the last couple of years.
Gogoi, the self styled eastern area commander was killed by the organization a few days back. There is no details of the scam that rocked the banned insurgent outfit.

The United Liberation Front of Assam (I) handed down the death penalty to two of its cadres for their alleged involvement with espionage.
In a press communique, the outlawed outfit said that its two cadres, Sanjiv Sarma and Dhanjit Das, were found to be involved in espionage. The cadres were given extreme punishments, it added. “ They were spies. In front of our inquiry officer, they conceded their activities,'' the release further said.
