Bhugali Bihu celebration going on

Amid much fanfare and extravaganza, Bhugali Bihu is being celebrated across the state on Tuesday. The much vaunted festival started in the morning with the pujas to the firegod by setting the meji on fire.
Barring castes and creeds, the people of all walks of life celebrated the  bihu by exchanging warm wishes to each other. Varieties of home made sweets-----pastries, larus are being served to the near and dear ones to mark the occasion. 
Cultural functions and competitions are holding in many places on the occasion. 
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi, his ministerial colleagues, AGP president Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, state BJP president Sarbananda Sonowal greet the people on the occasion of the festival.  
Assam times family members also celebrated the festival where executive editor Babul Gogoi lit the meji in presence of a host of dignitaries after the night long uruka.
