The move to hold Rabha autonomous body election triggers a fresh orgy of violent protest in the Rabha Hasong areas of Kamrup and Goalpara districts. Thousands of non Rabha people in these areas have come out to the streets to launch the civil obidience movement in protest against the autonomous body poll slated for next month. Protesters in large number stopped the trains in Krishnai. Some others burnt tyres to block the movement of traffic from early in the morning. Over a dozen of vehicles have been set on fire by the non Rabha protesters. Bandh supporters at Boko blocked the Chilarai Express for several hours.
A transformative gathering of educators took place at the Mayflower Hotel in Guwahati, where 76 educators from 38 schools across Assam and Meghalaya came together for WWF-India’s Educators’ Conclave 2024 on November 29.
