Prof. Gautam Barua, Director of IIT Guwahati will attend the next Guest of the Month program of Guwahati Press Club (GPC) on September 5 next. The program will start at 2 pm. Prof. Barua, who is going shortly to hand over his charge as the Director of IIT Guwahati after serving the institution with that capacity for a decade, is currently engaged in setting up the newly established Indian Institute of Information Technology at Guwahati. Prof. Barua is a Professor of Computer Science & Engineering and his areas of specializations are Operating Systems and Networks. He obtained his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay and a PhD degree in Computer Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara, USA . Prof. Barua was a faculty at IIT Kanpur, India from 1982 till 1995, and then he moved to IIT Guwahati. Member-journalists of the press club are requested to participate in the interactive session.
