Udalguri District level 'Inspire Award' science model exhibition
There is a scientist hidden in every child and it should be our utmost duty to discover him by working heart and soul. This was the view of Thaneswar Malakar, deputy commissioner of Udalguri district while addressing an assembly of students, teachers and guardians of Udalguri schools here at Golmagaon high school in Udalguri town on July 22 last on the occasion of daylong science exhibition and inspire award ceremony organised by the Inspector of Schools, Udalhuri district as part of the national programme initiated by the Union government in collaboration with the state government every year.
Appreciating the science models displayed by students of 40 schools of the district, Malakar observed that the government has been taking careful step to popularise the innovative science among the students so that our hidden talents could be the guiding force of the entire globe in the near future. “ Such models could be of much use and could be demanding,” he observed and said that every cultivator since ancient time proved to be scientist of his days as they first used conventional method of cultivation on experiment and then used it extensively. He also maintained that child scientists were seen giving much importance in making models based on agriculture which indeed was a good symptom.
Earlier to this, Nabin Chandra Boro, inspector of schools of Udalguri district circle explained the objectives of the assembly which was anchored by Jayanta Kumar Das, district co ordinator of the science projects. Among many others, the programme was attended by Bishnu Saramh, head master of Golmagaon high school, Dr. Rohit Daimari and Jadavendra Roy, both associate professors of science stream of Udalguri College, Anima Bhuyan, associate professor of Tangla College, Gopal Poudyal, IS office associate among many others.
It needs mention that 42 students of the district were given inspire awards worth Rs. 5000 for their innovative science models a few months back. Himangshu Daimari of Gopsachuba high school, Bhergaon, Madhusmita Bhuyan of Paneri higher secondary school, Jayashri Deka of Bholabari high school, Kalaigaon, Sumitra Chouhan of Kalaigaon Girls’ high school were selected for their innovative science models to participate in the state level science exhibition likely to be held in the next month at the Regional Science Centre at Khanapara, Guwahati.
