Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Debojeet Thaosen inaugurated the newly constructed office building of Divisional Forest Officer, Dima Hasao Forest Division (East) at Haflong on Thursday.
Thaosen was accompanied by the Chairman, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Sri Ngamrothang Hmar, Additional Principal Conservator of Forest Sri Bikash Brahma, IFS, Principal Secretary, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Sri Sunil Nunisa, Former Executive Member, Sri Bijoyendra Sengyung.
The inaugural function was attended by DFO, Dima Hasao Forest Division (West) Sri J N Hazarika, DFO, Dima Hasao Forest Division (East) i/c H. Bathari and other forest officials.
This was followed by planting saplings by CEM, Chairman, Former EM and Addl. PCCF in the office campus.
It is learnt that earlier there was a single Forest Division named N C Hills Forest Division which used to control the entire district, but for the smooth administration this was bifurcated into two division named Dima Hasao Forest Division (West) and Dima Hasao Forest Division (East) with two separate DFOs.
Hiranmay Bathari, DFO i/c Dima Hasao Forest Division (East) talking to this correspondent said the office was earlier functioning from the office of the then CCF office but now with inauguration of this office today the division has got its own office. He appreciated the CEM and the Addl. PCCF for their initiatives for which, the division has got its own office at Haflong, Obviously, this would help the aspiration of the people of the district to great extend.
Health and education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma buys band name again after Saradha Chief claimed to have paid him Rs 3 crore.In a letter to CBI on April 6, Sen said, “another high level person who has dramatically cheated me is Himanta Biswa Sarma. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is seriously contemplating handing over some cases against chit fund companies to CBI.These include the Saradha Group, whose chairman Sudipto Sen was arrested on Tuesday. The move comes after Sen wrote to CBI naming several politicians including a cabinet minister and owners of some private television news channels.
An Assam police team is leaving West Bengal to seek the remand of Sudipta Sen a day after the Saradha Group chief was brought to Kolkata.According to sources, the team would interrogate Sen in connection with the chit-fund scam. He said three staff-members of Saradha Group were arrested in 2012 in connection with a cheating case in Jorhat.So far, 222 cases have been registered against 128 chit fund companies in the State. A Special Investigation Team probing the cases has so far filed charge sheets against 42 persons and 15 companies in 17 cases. So far, 303 persons have been arrested. ULFA strongly takes on Zubeen Garg after the popular singer spoke ill of the outfit on the appeal to confine to the traditional Assamese.Talking to a section of television news channels over telephone on Friday, ULFA supremo Paresh Barua said that the singer is reacting in a manner which does not behove for a promising star. Guwahati: Journalist Forum Assam (JFA) has expressed serious concern at the closer notices issued by the management of two Assam based daily newspapers and urged Assam government to take initiative for possible re-launching both the newspapers owned by the Kolkata based by Saradha Group. The forum also asked the management to release the outstanding salaries to the journalist and non-journalist employees at the earliest. Security forces claimed to have killed a hardcore ULFA militant at an encounter in Tinsukia on Friday. Identified as Raktavij Asom he was killed early in the morning. The encounter took place during a combing operation launched at Kordoiguri on Thursday evening. A police sub inspector also was killed in the encounter. Another ULFA leader is hiding at a house. Operation is going on.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi strongly came in defence of Zubeen Garg after ULFA slammed the popular singer for not adhering to the diktat on Hindi performance in bihu functions. Talking to reporters in Bokakhat on Thursday Gogoi said that ULFA diktat has no basis and that all artists are free to perform in any language. Gogoi further said that if asked for the government is ready to provide him security force.
Braving ULFA diktat Zubeen Garg peformed in Hindi in the bihu function in Guwahati. The popular singer sang in Hindi one after another songs at two functions on Thursday evening. Hours before it, he made it clear that he wont act on any diktat and that he would perform in Hindi. He said that culture has no barrier in language.
