Leopard terror at Maduri

A leopard has been creating terror at Maduri and its adjucent areas from last few days. A cow was killed by the leopard on Friday. Forest department people are trying to capture the leopard.

Congress gears up at Nazira

Congress party is gearing up for the upcoming poll in Nazira slated for April 4. Party candidate and sitting MLA Debabrate Saikia met  party workers and asked them to work hard in grassroot level. A party workers meeting was held on Wednesday at Saikia's residence. 

Sarba's effigy burnt

Alleging about the neglect and deprivation faced  by the Ahom community of Nazira constituency the Members of the All Assam Tai Ahom burnt effigies of BJP state president Sarbananda Sonowal and MP  Kamakhya Prashad Tasa in front of the Nazira BJP office.  They raised slogans against the party and held that due to a conspiracy between Sonowal and Tasa the Ahom community of Nazira remains depraved. Nazira got welcome gate

Welcome gate to the historic Nazira Sub divison as been constructed and inaugurated at a public meeting on Friday. The gate was constructed with MLA development fund of Nazira  at a total cost of around  51 Lakhs.

Sivasagar district AASU annual conference

A two-days-long 15th annual conference of the Sivasagar district All Assam Students Union (AASU) was held at Maut Gaon, Simaluguri on on January 4-5. The new executive committee  was formed in this conferance with Samiron Phukon became the general secretary and Ashim Dutta as the new president. Members of Nazira Anchalik AASU Unit walked out from the repeesentatives meetings due to the internal disputes.

Bike mishap kills one

Abhijit Dulakhakhoria (30) of Namti Dupdor gaon died in a bike accident at 9 AM on Thursday in the main road of Nazira town, when he was trying to cross the road. The other rider Nipul Gogoi (26) was also seriously injured and reffered to the Assam Medical College Hospital of Dibrugarh. 

Press Day observed at Nazira

Nazira Press Club observed the National Press Day at its office on Monday. Senior journalist and writer Durllav Buragohain, Bulu Chetia and ADC Dhiren Hazarika were present in the function.
