Bishnu Rabha Awards presented
Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, while presenting the Bishnu Rabha annual awards on Thursday at a function held in Rabindra Bhawan said that art and culture is very essential for the society as it helps in creating a positive outlook among the youth.
The Bishnu Rabha awards this year was presented to dancer Garima Hazarika and sculptor Saleha Ahmed. The award carried a cheque of one lakh rupees, a certificate and a shawl.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said,” Kalaguru Bishnu Prassad Rabha was not only an artist but also a person who was voice for the voiceless, and his songs carried messages of harmony and peace for the society.
He further added that he was elated to be a part of the event for and was feeling proud to present the prestigious award to such talented and acclaimed artists.
Later the cultural affairs minister of state Pranati Phukan, while addressing the audience said that it was the responsibility of the people to carry forward the ideologies of the warrior artist in the near future. And she also promised that the government would always come forward to help the artists of the state.
While receiving the awards both the ladies became emotional and spoke about their journey so far, they also thanked the government for giving them the award and promised the people that they would continue their work.
