Workshop for Orchid Growers fromv June 18
Directorate of Horticulture & Food Processing, Assam invites applications from the orchid growers of Assam for participation in a workshop cum seminar on scientific cultivation of orchid to be held on June 18-19, 2013 at the Auditorium of Krishak Niwas, Directorate of Agriculture Campus, Khanapara, Guwahati. Interested participators are requested to apply in plain paper with detail address, contact no., e-mail address etc. to the Director of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam , Khanapara, Guwahati , so as to reach the office on or before June 15. There is a provision for 100 nos. of participants only and the selection will be made on first come first chance basis. The expenditure for to and fro journey will be re-imbursed to the participants after producing the journey tickets of the shortage route by bus or train and one night accommodation will be arranged for participants by the Directorate. The Union cabinet on Wednesday approved an institute of Indian Agriculture Research Centre in Assam. Presided over by prime minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, the meeting cleared the proposal to set up the country’s premier institute at Gogamukh in Dhemaji bordering Arunachal Pradesh. Sources in Dispur said that the Assam government had also proposed a huge plot of 587 acres in Gogamukh for the project.
