US Consulate Kolkata’s Green initiative in Guwahati

With rapid urbanization, preserving the environment poses many challenges and governments, industry and civil society need to play a responsible role in this effort to ensure that development is more sustainable.  The ‘Green Building’ Movement in India is advancing at a rapid pace with over 1,608 registered projects covering a green footprint of 1.15 billion sq ft. 

During his two day stay in Guwahati, Robert Brosnan will speak on strategies and technologies for sustainable urban planning and management.  He will provide a dynamic platform to share best practices and encourage a meaningful discussion among various stakeholders regarding the impact of the ‘Green Building’ concept on our environment and community.

Linking development, transport, energy efficiency and land preservation Robert Brosnan will speak to and share notes with government officials, corporate sector professionals, civil society representatives, students and NGOs in Guwahati.  The U.S. Consulate Kolkata has collaborated with NECRD-IGNOU, Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Rotary Club of Guwahati South and IIT Guwahati for this program.  Rachel Sunden, Deputy Director American Center will also be present at the programs.

The program is part of the U.S. Consulate Kolkata’s green initiative.
