2013 Rongali Bihu celebration at Pune
Assamese people residing in Pune witnessed a wonderful evening on May 11, with the celebration of Rongali Bihu, at the beautiful and natural environment at Bombay Sapers. The celebration was organized by Assam Cultural Association Pune. The beautiful evening started with the Bonti Prajwala. Next the “bihutoli” echoed with “O mûr apûnar dex”, the State song of Assam, sang by entire crowd.
Beautiful celebration was garlanded by the Bihu Dance Competition, and Bihu Geet by Manash Barua and Putul Deuri. Bihu Group (dal) from Mumbai made the celebration more live with their taals and melody of dhol, and beautiful love songs, with the electrifying performance; crowd could not stop their feet and started dancing on the tunes and music of “Dhol”.
One of the beautiful attractions of the evening was the Ethnic Apparel Show choreographed by Bhaskar Dutta, and dress designed by Madhu Bordoloi.
The Venue was packed with Assamese as well as Non-Assamese people, who were overwhelmed with the beauty of the festival. All were mesmerized with the green and natural surroundings of the Venue. More than three hundred people gave their valuable presence to make the occasion more beautiful.
Rajib Borkataki, General Secretary of ACAP expressed his feeling to Assam Times, said: “I am more than happy with the huge response of the crowd, and the success of the event says it all”. Mr. Borkataki, and Bhaskar Dutta were the focal persons behind the success story of the event.
