An ethnic food festival pulls huge crowd in Guwahati as it focusing the cuisines of the various Mongolian origin ethnic people. The visitors are overwhelmed by the range of available cuisines. Entitled NORTHEAST MONGOLIAN FOOD FESTIVAL, the event at Last Gate witnessed huge turn out with tasty dishes. Local rice beer was also served at most of the stalls much to the delight of the visitors.

Assam Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika's condition is stable. According to the doctors attending on the ailing award-wining singer and film maker is out of danger and that his vital parameters are functioning normally. Bhutan's Prime Minister Jigme Y. Thinley says he will never allow any militant outfits from Assam to set up base in the Himalayan kingdom. Talking to reporters during his breif halt at the Loka Priya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati on Friday he said his kingdom will ensure that no one is able to enter Bhutan to run subversive activities. He said he hardly beleives that no militant outfit from the northeastern region would be able to set up base in his country.

She announced a tri-weekly Rajya Rani Intercity express between Silghat and Dhubri via Guwahati, Kokrajhar and Jogighopa, a weekly Kavi Guru Express from Guwahati to Jaipur Express, weekly Swami Vivekananda express between Dibrugarh-Thiruvananthapuram-Kanniyakumari, daily Guwahati-Dimapur Express and new line services between Dimapur-Tizzit, Silghat Tezpur and Dibrugarh-Dangori via Tinsukia. Moreover, she proposed connection of all state capitals of the entire region except Sikkim by Rail in next seven years...
The 1st Guwahati International Short Film Festival (GISFF) by Creovaent Productions will be held from April 4 to April 5, 2011 at Cinemax, Guwahati. The Guwahati International Short Film Festival (GISFF) is now taking short films for Short Film Competition (restricted only to filmmakers from North-East Region for the first year) and for Indian Kaleidoscope section.
Short Filmmakers from other parts of India can download the same entry form available in the website and send in their entries for Indian Kaleidoscope section. For the first year there will be no entry fees for submitting the short films.

The National Small Industries Corporation in collabration with Nirmal Jyoti Developement Society of Guwahati organised entrepreneurs developement programme at Jogibaribil Golaghat on February 20-28. The programme was attended by a large numbers of local people and self-help groups.
Centre is very positive on the on going peace process with ULFA. Chairman of the outfit Arabinda Rajkhowa told media after arriving in Guwahati from Delhi on Tuesday. Rajkhowa said the process would ensure permanent peace in Assam.
ULFA and the government are well prepared to begin the much awaited peace talks on March 10.
Disclosing this top ULFA leaders told journalists that the talk would be unconditional. Foreign secretary Sasha Chaudhury said ULFA always wants an amicable settlement to the problems crippling the people of Assam.
Vice chairman Pradeep Gogoi said self styled C in C Paresh Barua is yet to respond to their call and that it would in no way hamper the peace initiatives.
Gogoi said Paresh Barua is bound to go with the general council decisions.
