National Press Day observed at Nazira

National Press Day was observed colourfully by the Freelance Journalist Association, Nazira at Nazira M.C. Club on last November 16. In this connection a public meeting was held under the chairmanship of journalist Biren Sharma. Eminent writer Punya Saikia, Deepali Bhattachya, News editor of the Dainik Janambhumi paper Sankar Koushik Baruah, Pradip Kr. Das S.D.O. (Civil) of Nazira Sub-division were also present in the meeting alongwith other dignatories. In the meeting the organisers distributed trophies and prize money to the winners of the state level essay and district level drawing competition. Bulu Chetia, secretary of the Nazira Journalist Association thanked the organisers for their effort to bring awerness about the Press Day among the mass people.

Draft Electoral Roll Published for Sivasagar District; Total Voters at 5.72 Lakh

The draft electoral roll for the three Assembly constituencies of Sivasagar district—Demow, Sivasagar and Nazira—was published on December 27, officials said. As per official data, the total number of voters across the district’s three constituencies stands at 5,72,219.
