Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday expressed grave concern over the simmering communal tension in BTAD areas and called it is a major cause of worry for the entire country. Speaking to mediapersons on board to New Delhi from Tehran, he said that what worried him more was the ethnic clashes in Assam.
“When I look at the future of our country, the way things have gone in Assam, the ethnic tensions that have disturbed peace in Assam, that part of Assam which is in Bodoland territorial administration”, he said.

We know through newspapers and social workers that the riots in Assam are directed against Bangladeshi migrants who have illegally infiltrated and settled in Assam.But Dr. Singh who is country's Prime Minister calls these communal riots.It appears the PM is not aware of what is happening in this country country.God save this country with such an ignorant Prime Minister!

The Centre on Tuesday virtually ruled out immediate release of Ranjan Daimary to expedite the peace process with NDFB. The message surfaced when a delegation of the Bodo National Conference delegation met home ministry joint secretary Shambhu Sigh in New Delhi demanding release of the NDFB chairman to expedite peace process. Sensational prevails in Nalbari following the death of a protestor when he was participating at a dharna in front of the municipality office here on Tuesday. The 47 year-old suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to the civil hospital where he died. The incident took place when over 300 demonstrators had gathered to protest against failure of the district administration to take any steps to prevent the problem of water-logging in the town.
A child died and eight others have been seriously injured when lightning struck two villages in Kamrup (Rural) district on Tuesday. The Assam government is in a move to increase reservation for women in local bodies to 50 per cent of the total seats. If it so happens, it would mark a rise from the current 33 per cent. Even after 36 hours police have no clue on the whereabouts of 16 dam workers kidnapped by suspected KPLT in Karbi Anglong district on Sunday. Search operation is going on in the hills district since suspected KPLT militants kidnapped the workers from private a hydel project at Longlit area under Manja police station.
According to police, a joint team of police Central Reserve Police Force, Cobra force and Army are carrying out search operations at all probable locations in the district to rescue the abducted dam workers. Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers has yet to claim the responsibility.
