Amid simmering violence police have arrested BPF MLA Pradeep Kumar Brahma from Kokrajhar on Wednesday night. Brahma, the BPF MLA from West Kokrajhar was picked up by a team of police from his own residence in Dotoma. He is likely to be produced in court Thursday. But the BPF workers are launching a massive protest against it in the form of National Highway 31 blockade.
The cabinet panel set up to the deal with the NRC issue submitted its report before chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday.
Headed by senior cabinet minister Prithvi Majhi, the panel listened to the prominent citizens and several local organizations and political parties. After cabinet approval, the report would be sent to the Centre for seal of approval. If the things remain correct, the NRC update would take place from July.
