The All Assam Koch Rajbanshi Students Union has withdrawn the proposed 1000 hour Kamatapur bandh from Monday following the permission they received for staging hunger strike in the city. But the student organisation has decided to boycott the meeting with P R Kyndiah in Delhi slated for eighteenth of December.

The Assam Koch Rajbanshi Students Union along with Chilarai Senas and Mahila Sanmiloni were staging fast unto death in the city on Friday demanding a separate Kamatapur. The Assam Government ordered arrest of the protestors charging with the violation of the 144 CRPC on the spot. The has forced the organizations to call for a 1000 hour kamatapur bandh from Sunday. But the Kamrup metro administration on Friday night released the protestors going by the request from the superintendents of police in the lower Assam districts. Further, the Kamrup metro administration had to accord permission to these organizations to stage hunger strike in the city.

Altogether twenty seven AKRSU leaders including the presidents of Darrang, Dhubri, Bangaigaon and Kokrajhar districts are staging a hunger strike. They have withdrawn the bandh call but they will boycott the proposed meeting of six communities with P R Kyndiah in Delhi on eighteenth of December. However, they are ready to sit with the Prime Minister only.

The koch rajbanshi students body further apprehend that the talk with the Assam government brokered by Congress leaders Dr Durlabh Chamua and Bireswar Saikia will be a futile one.

The Assam government exherted pressure on the koch rajbanshi student union to withdraw the 1000 bandh call on sixteenth December in view of the full and total response evoked during the lower Assam bandh two months back.
