All Assam Students Union has warned the government not to allow the immigrants to settle in the name of rehabilitation package. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Sunday, the AASU leaders said that they would keep a close vigil on the rehabilitation works to ensure that not even a single immigrant is allowed to get the benefit.

Bodo must look after themselves, do not fall to sweet talk of Gogoi, Sonia or Shinde. They will butcher Bodos for vote bank. We all know about AIUDF, a terrorist organization. Normal business activities in Guwahati have come to a grinding halt as the traders on Saturday in protest against the move to the trade license fee by 300% by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation. The Assam-Nagaland border areas in Sivasagar district slips into a simmering situation after Nazira police foiled the bid of group of officials from Longleng district administration to set up a polling booth in Geleky. The officials under the Tamlu legislative assembly constituency arrived in Borhola on Wednesday evening headed by Tamlu SDO who asked his Nazira counterpart to allow them to set up polling booth in the place. Nazira sub divisional police officer and the SDO did not allow them to do so and asked the Nagaland officials to leave the place. A major incident of blast was averted on Thursday when an improvised explosive devise was found near a polling station in Assam's Autonomous District (ST) Lok Sabha constituency.
Accoridng official sources, a police patrolling party found the IED at Disobai, under Bokolia police station of Karbi Anglong district early this morning prior to commencement of polling at 7 am.
Later police defused the bomb by disconnecting its wires, the sources said, adding, security was on high alert in the constituency comprising the twin hill districts of Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Hills district.
