All Assam Students Union has warned the government not to allow the immigrants to settle in the name of rehabilitation package. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Sunday, the AASU leaders said that they would keep a close vigil on the rehabilitation works to ensure that not even a single immigrant is allowed to get the benefit.

Bodo must look after themselves, do not fall to sweet talk of Gogoi, Sonia or Shinde. They will butcher Bodos for vote bank. We all know about AIUDF, a terrorist organization. The gory incident took place at Cinamora in the outskirt of Jorhat town where five persons beheaded two brothers at the height of a land dispute at around 11 in the morning. A meeting of Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and leaders of All NGOs Joint Committee of Mizoram on Sunday decided to resolve boundary disputes with Assam. The All NGOs Joint Committee handed over a memorandum on boundary dispute to the chief minister and informed the latter about the efforts being made so far by the NGOs on the issue.
Normal life was paralysed in Dhubri district following a 24-hour bandh called by the various parties and organizations in protest against the killing of a wholesale trader on Saturday. All shops and business establishments, offices, financial institutions and educational institutions remained closed. Roads wore a desert look under the impact of the bandh.

Dispur rolls up its sleeves to set up two separate police cells to firmly deal with Maoist elements and the menace of counterfeit currency. Disclosing this on Monday, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that both the cells will be headed by officers not below the rank of an inspector general of police. He said that the Maoists tactics are different than other insurgents. That’s why, he said specialised skills were required.
“We would strike deal with the Centre for the specialised training of the officers,” he said. Gogoi’s announcement assumes significance a few days after P Chidambaram assured the north east of all help to deal with these elements.
Four persons, including a woman, were killed and three others injured when a mini truck collided its head on a van at Ledo in Tinsukia district on Monday. Assam will soon have a special cell of police to tackle the menace of fake currency racket. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Monday, chief minister Tarun Gogoi said that the incidents of recovery of counterfeit currency are increasing. He said that the fake currencies are pumped into the state mainly through Bangladesh and anti-national forces like ISI are involved in it.
Gogoi said that the Vigilance Cell along with CID, Bureau of Investigation of Economic Offices (BIEO) have already been working on this. The cell will also have officials from the Reserve Bank of India. “We will also take help from the National Investigation Agency over this," said the chief minister.
