Assam CM assures due facility to media persons

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi assured the media persons of basic minimum facilities recommended by the labour laws and statutory wage boards of the country. Gogoi who attended the Guest of the Month program of Guwahati Press Club on Monday also expressed his goodwill for the entire journalist fraternity and promised that he would do the needful for the press club as well.


The third time chief minister of Assam in northeast India, Gogoi also promised the pioneer press club a plot of land in the heart of the city. On the occasion, a power point presentation was made in front of Gogoi, where a number of pictorial slides of the proposed press club building and its spacious campus were shown.


The proposed press club is expected to be a state-of-the-art building complex that would stand out as a landmark of the pre-historic city. The building will have all the modern facilities like conference hall, media centre, guest houses with provisions of high tech modern IT gadgets and instruments along with V-Sets for instant access to and from all over the globe.


The building is planned and designed with total application of green concepts such as use of green construction materials, energy efficient, environment friendly, efficient management for use of natural light, natural air and solar energy to minimize electricity consumption, healthy indoor ambience, proper drainage and garbage disposal facilities, rain water harvesting etc, informed Er JN Khataniar, who has prepared the design.


Other important features of the proposed five-storied press club building will be earthquake resistant design, pre- engineered multi level building complex with steel frame structure for better structural responses, high quality fire fighting arrangements, car parking, underground water reservoir, etc.


A memorandum with the print-outs of the presentation was handed over to the Chief Minister by Nava Thakuria, secretary of the press club. It needs to be mentioned here that the press club hall was officially converted into an air-conditioning auditorium from June 18, 2012. Three AC machines presented by Satyam Foundation were activated in the presence of the head of State government.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi announced a set of measures to give the education sector a fresh lease of life. In his budget, the chief minister proposed a women varsity in Jorthat, 21 poly technique institutes, scholarship for lower primary and high school students and Rajiv Gandhi school for poor students. Railway security forces have apprehended altogether nine illegal Bangladeshi migrants from Guwahati station Saturday. They were detained after they failed to produce valid document when sought. They said that they entered into the Indian territory in Tripura on Thursday and that they arrived in Guwahati en route to Alipurduwar. RPF officials said that they crossed the border on March 7 and reached Agartala and from there they headed to Badarpur in Karimganj district. The Bangladeshi nationals will be produced before the Foreigners' Tribunal on Monday.
Burma Centre Delhi would soon launch a forum involving all north east MPs to raise the issue of Myanmar in a better way in Parliament. According to information, the forum will be made on the lines of the Indian MPs’ forum for Bangladesh, which is doing great work on various bilateral issues between the two countries. The Manas National Park is set to get two orphaned one-horned rhinos from Kaziranga n Sunday under the International Fund for Animal Welfare-Wildlife Trust of India. The rhinos were being shifted from Kaziranga National Park to Manas National Park on Saturday night under tight security. Named as Maju and Raja, they were under care of the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation in Kaziranga, where they were hand-raised by experienced veterinarians. Both the incidents occurred in Kaziranga National Park.
