Tamil Nadu rescued eight child labourers from Assam from a textile mill on Sunday. According to information, acting on a tip off, a team of revenue officials on Saturday visited the mill in Suburban Asokapuram area and rescued the labourers -- all aged between 17 and 21. A hunt was on for the mill owner who is absconding.
The rescued labourers told the officials that the owner had promised to pay them Rs 100 as daily wage besides free food when they joined the mill three months ago. They were provided free residential sheds inside the mill.

A father and son duo were killed in a clash arising out of land dispute in Lakhimpur district on Sunday. According to information, the duo were killed over construction of a boundary wall on their land at Santapur. His wife was seriously injured in the clash and admitted to hospital for treatment. Tension grips in Sonari a day after some armed miscreants atacked a police barrack built up in in Charaipung bordering Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.
