The 27th Mid-Term Conference of Sivasagar District Academic Council on January 18-19


The 27th mid-term conference of Sivasagar district academic council will be held on 18-19 January, 2012, at Ghilaguri High School, Khaloighugura. On first day the flag will be hoisted by Prabin Sarma, Inspector of school and remembrance will be attended by Atul Phukon, executive president of the celebration committee. On that day a discussion, “ The rule of present education system in quality education” will be inaugurated by retired Principal of Ting-Khang College, Mr. Jiweswar Mohon.


On the second day the open meeting will be innugurated by mr. Lakhminath Gogoi, Sub-Divisional Officer, Charaidew and will be attended by retired Professor of Dibrugarh University, Mr. Girin Phukon, Retired Principal of Bhagawati Prasad Barua Higher Secondary School, Sonari, Mr. Bishnu Dutta, the Education Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and the speaker of Assam Assembly Mr. Pranab Gogoi. The D.C. of Sivasagar, Mr. Jatindra Nath Lohkor will be attended as a Invited guest. A souvenir will also be released in that meeting.

Me-dam-me-phi, the auspicious festival of Tai-Ahom community is celebrated at several places in Sivasagar district on Tuesday. It is celebrated at the historical Talatal Ghar by the historical monuments preservation committee, at Shiva Dol by Ahom Raj Chora and at Gorgaon Palace by ATASU. The All Tai Yuba Chatra Parishad observed Me-dam-me-phi at Lai-Thepena Maidam, Amguri.

Upen Konwer, Central Commitee member and Vice-Presiden of Charaidew district of AGP has passed on Sunday at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. He was 52 years. He is remembered for his dedication in the historical Assam agitation and AGP party. He was from Angera Konwer gaon of Charaidew. Ex. On yesterday evening, at Laxmijan stone quarry under Nazira police station of Sivasagar district, Urmila Khatun (29) and her three years son Mejajin Ali died on spot in a stone quarry mishap under 6no quarry of his Mahadev Kurmi is the contractor. The accident occurred due to the falling of heap of stone on the workers. The seriously injured husband Giasuddin Ali and elder son Giasuddin Ahmed admitted at hospital. The ill-fated family was from Mayong-Balimukh gaon of Morigaon district, Assam.
The All Assam Mamoni Bora and Dulu Hazarika memorial invitation day-night prize money badminton competition held at Gaurisagar on January 27 concluded.
