Cooch Behar Trophy (U-19) match underway at Golaghat

The four day cricket match between Assam and Orissa in Cooch Behar Trophy (U19) has kicked off today morning at Golaghat Stadium. Assam team led by Wasiqur Rahman, won the toss and decided to bat first. It put up 209 runs on the board losing all their wickets in 68.3 overs. Sasank Negi top scored for his side with a total of 78 runs. The main contributors of bowling first were Suryakant Pradhan who took 3 wickets conceding 39 runs and Priyotosh Parmanik who took 3 wickets conceding 47 runs. In reply Orissa scored 57 runs losing 3 wickets at the end of today’s play. In bowling Amlan Jyoti Barua took 2 wickets and Jogeswar Bhumij took 1 wicket for Assam. Orissa team is being led by Sachdev Patra.

After Bar Association and AGP now its AASU’s turn to protest against the government failure to deal with the explosive situation. The has become palpable in Golaghat when hundreds of AASU activists on Thursday took out a protest rally crticising the failure of the state government to take stern action against the Bangldeshi immigrants and also to safeguard the life and property of its people. Golaghat Bar Association today taken out a Silent Peace March condemning the serial bomb blasts that rocked Assam on 30th October. More than two hundred Advocates participated in the march. The Bar Association also urge the state government to ensure the security of its citizen.
The whole of the Golaghat Town wore a deserted look during the 11 hour bandh called by AASU. The bandh went peaceful. AASU workers blocked the roads by burning tyres.
Today AASU activists lighted up candles all over the Golaghat Town as a mark of tribute to the deceased of Thursday’s serial bomb blasts.
A condolence meeting was held today at Golaghat Bar Association condemning the serial bomb blast of yesterday that rocked Assam. The Bar Association also submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam through the D.C. Golaghat, demanding immediate punishment of the guilty. Kalipuja is being celebrated at Golaghat
In the wee hours of 28th October two militants were killed in a joint operation conducted by 11Guards Regiment of Indian Army and Assam Police, in the Panbari-Methoni area of Bokakhat under Golaghat District.
