Two days science model exhibition at Tangla


Arunodoi Academy, Tangla organized a grand science exhibition cum competition at Tangla on October 22 and 23 on the occasion of Foundation Day of the school. Dipankar Saharia,Regional Coordinator,TERI formally inaugurated the two days programme on October 22 at 10 AM. DN Hazarika, Circle Officer,Harisinga Revenue Circle lighted the sacred lamp before its inauguration. On the occasion Dipankar Saharia recalled his childhood days at Tangla and thanked organizers for arranging the exhibition. Total 154 numbers of students presented 61 numbers of attractive science models to much delight of the people present. Moreover more than 14 numbers of old science related items like old Swiss clock,Gramophone player, coins, costumes of Koch kingdom etc were also displayed by the students. A few working science models like-Use of wasted kinetic energy of electric fans to produce energy; Launching of space craft with the help of earth's magnetic field prepared by Upamanyoo Das and Arnab Paul; Solar air cooker by Chayanika Rabha and Hemangsing Basumatari; Electricity from Sea Waves by Atlanta Das and Puja Rabha;Solar cum Wind Vehicle by Enush Daimari and Bitopan Deka could very much impress organizers and people present. More than thousand people including students,teachers and a few distinguished people namely-Mridula Saharia,Chairperson,State Woman Commission,Assam;Diganta Kumar Sarma, Secretary, Tangla Press Club visited the science models.


On the concluding day on October 23, prizes were distributed to the winners in the open session which was presided over by social worker Keshab Chandra Boro. Pranabjyoti Das, one of the key organizers welcomed all the guests before felicitation to the guests. Jayanta Kumar Das,District Coordinator,NCSC,Udalguri released the souvenir “Arunodian” edited by Napolean Daimari,Principal,Arunodoi Academy, Tangla. He requested parents and guardians to create scientific temperament in the society so as to remove blind belief and superstition from the minds of the people. Dr.Buddhin Hazarika ,science activist and senior lecturer of Mangaldai College thanked organizers for the science exhibition. He explained on how to make science study interesting and joyful. Dr.Kamala Bora,NCSC activist and senior lecturer of Mangaldai College also attended the programme as invited guest.Speaking on the occasion he remarked that applicability is the best quality of learning. He thanked students for presenting 61 Nos of excellent science model at Tangla. On the necessity of more and more plantation,he remarked that an 50 years old tree could produce oxygen worth 25 lakhs of rupees. Chief guest of the day,Dr.Kailash Chandra Chamua,in his speech remarked that such ivents would very much help in removing blind belief and superstition from the mind of the common people.According to him following of responsibilities very much starts at home only.


In the senior group- Upamanyoo Das and Arnab Paul won first prize for their model “Launching of Spacecraft with Earth's Magnetic Field”; Kishore Deka and Rajsekhar Das won second prize for their model “Equilibrium” while Chinmoy Kachari and Sagar Baro won third prize for “No bill House” model. In junior group- Atlanta Das and Puja Rabha (Electricity from Sea Waves) won first ;Bercillona Das and Smriti Barua (Electric Magnet) won second;Hridoy Sarma and Debojit Das (Erruption of Volcano) won third prize. Napolean Daimari, Principal, Arunodoi Academy offered vote of thanks at the end.

Thanks all the students of Arunodoi Academy, Tangla for displaying those fantastic science models. Most of the models were based on innovative ideas. This was the 3rd time, Arunodoi Academy arranged the science exhibition since its establishment in 2006 and has been trying their level best to develop scientific temperament among the students of the locality.

Election Commission of India, has decided to give a Voter's Certificate to all the new voters of the age group of 18-19 years for the first time in the country.The certificate would be signed by the EROs (Electorate Registration Officers) of the LACs.The certificates would be very much useful as it would be considered as an important valid document supporting citizenship of India.
