A local TADA court in Guwahati Wednesday granted bail to Raju Baruah two days after he was remanded to judicial custody.The court heard the bail plea moved on behalf of the ULFA deputy commander in chief on Wednesday morning and granted him bail.He was sent to jail on Monday for failing to appear in the court despite repeated summons.
AGP has moved the state election officer on Wednesday seeking immediate transfer of Kamrup(metro) deputy commissioner Ashotosh Agnihotri in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls.The Opposition party feared that Agnihotri might help the Guwahati Congress candidate win the upcoming polls by hook or by crook.According to the allegations, Agnihotri has been working as the Kamrup(metro) deputy commissioner for more than the last three years who needs to be transferred as per the model code of conduct.

After Kaziranga, the rhino poachers seem to have been pouring in the Pobitora sanctuary.Two dreaded poachers were killed at a heavy gunbattle with forest guards in the sanctuary on Wednesday. That too only after they killed a one horn animal.The incident took place in the wee hours near the Tuplung forest camp where forest guards arrived in the spot on hearing the sounds of gun firing.During the search operation they engaged in a heavy gun fight. Both the poachers died on the spot during the one and a half hour encounter.
