Erosion Threat to the people of Namti

Due to the lack of proper maintenance and repairing of the embankment of the Namti River, people of the surrounding areas like Namti, Majbari, Kumarchuk, Borhayak, Mout Gaon, Belimukhia, Mahmora etc. are highly effected since last few years.

Paddy fields, lives & property of the people are endangered by the flood and also erosion of the Namti River.

The 10-kilometers long Namti River embankment was constructed long before 1954. However the then concerned department Water Resource Department (erstwhile E&D) did not take appropriate steps to repair and maintenance of the embankment. The people of this area are facing a lot of inconveniences during the monsoon. Although a huge quantity of money is spent every year by the government in the name of flood control but the real victims of the flood are not benefited by the same.

Now people are sue to think that the money meant for the embankment repair and maintenance have been misused by corrupt officials, politicians and of the concerned government department.
