Free Eye Camp held at Borka
A free eye check up camp was held at Borka Late Padma Dutta Memorial Library in Kamrup district of Assam on April 20. The Camp was organised by Dr. Akhtarul Islam, an eye specialist of Baihata Chariali. About 120 patients were treated in the camp. The main aim of the eye camp was to provide eye treatment facilities to poor and needy people residing in remote areas. The camp was managed by Dadul Islam, Subha Ram Das, Abdul Rachid, Ugra Deka, Balen Deka, Bhupen Sarma, Bhaskar Deka, Arabinda Deka and Dimbeswar Sarma. Medicines worth Rupees 2 lacs were distributed in the camp.

The troops of Red Horns of Division of the Indian Army deployed at Changsari under Kamalpur PS in Kamrup district has recovered today 70 Kgs of explosives from Changsari. Acting on specific information army recovered the said explosives. One person has been apprehended in this regard but army has not disclosed the name of the person.
Kamrup Police today recovered 60 detonators from Baihata Charili in Kamrup district. According to the police sources detonators have been recovered from a dhaba acting on specific information. Further investigation is on in this regard.
One student namely Samnur Ali (12) was killed in a road mishap took place today at NH 31 at Kamalpur in Kamrup district of Assam at around 9-45am. According to the police sources Samnur Ali, a student of Kamalpur MV school got severe injury when he was hit by a truck No. WB -41/ 3109 on the way to his school. He breathed his last on the way to GMCH. The truck was seized from Rangia by Kamalpur Police.
Kamrup Police today apprehended one ULFA cadre namely Mintu Kalita (22) from Bamundi under Sualkuchi PS under Kamrup district of Assam. Police has recovered some documents pertaining to ULFA. Mintu was involved with many extortion activities. He is a member of 709 battalion of ULFA.

Public health is under threat in Kamrup district of Assam due to establishment of coke industries in various parts of the district. It is to be noted that the name of coke industry comes under high air polluting industries of the world. Coke industries are mainly engaged in purifying coal. But in the process of purifying coal air becomes polluted. Carbon Monoxide and many other toxic gases are left from these industries. According to a survey the whole environment has become polluted in the district . Water and paddy fields have also been affected by the pollution of these coke industries besides heavy air pollution. Kamrup Police today recovered a powerful bomb at Rangia. Acting on specific information a police team led by Sanjukta Parashar,IPS, SDPO,Rangia checked a bus bearing number AS-01G-7298 coming from Darranga Mela towards Rangia and recovered the bomb from the bus. The bomb is one IED and is of 3kg. Later the bomb was defused by Red Horns Engineers Regiment.
