Barpeta district administration is ready for poll
Barpeta district administration is ready for the 2nd phase of Assam assembly Election 2011. All the arrangements are ready for the poll. The vote cast will be held in 1132 polling centres in the 6 LACs of the Barpeta sub-division. In this regard some of the presiding officers and polling officers of Chenga and Baghbar LACs has already despacted to their respective centres with the EVM voting machines and other materials for the poll as the place is far from the town and remotest place. Mentionable that there are 150 and 153 polling stations in Chenga and Baghbar LAC respectively under Barpeta sub-division. On the other hand for Sarbhog, Barpeta, Jania and Sarukshetry LACs the polling and presiding officers will be started on April 10 along with the security guards.

Over 62.69% polling was recorded in Barpeta HPC that concluded today. The polling was by and large peaceful in most areas except few small incidents. It was also noticeable that the poll percentage within the town areas was very poor. Though it was a cloudy day in the first half of the day, later the weather became good. The polling at different LACs recorded as: Barpeta LAC - 62.48%, Chenga LAC - 65.07%, Jania - 65.97%, Baghbar - 66.58%, Sarukshetri -60.02%, Patacharkuchi-48%, Bongaigaon-62%, Abhayapuri-North-72%, Abhayapuri South –65.5%, Dharmapur - 59.76%.

The Barpeta district Administration has declared dry day in Barpeta district under section 324(A) of 1945 Assam Excise Act regarding the situation of the second phase of Lok Sabha Election that will be held on 23rd April/09.
