Assam Rifles clinched Assam State Premier League


Assam Rifles, Tezpur, won the Airtel Assam State Premier League football tournament title for the third consecutive time, defeating Oil India FC, Duliajan 2-1 in the title clash at Nehru Stadium.


L Santa Singh put Assam Rifles ahead in the 23rd minute with a long ranger while L Kima increased the margin in the 59th minute with a spectacular header. Trailing by two goals, the Oil India men made several attempts but in vain as their success came in the 89th minute through H L Ruata.


Assam Rifles was richer by Rs 1 lakh while Oil India received Rs 50, 000.
