Assam minister of Revenue and Disaster Management Bhumidhar Barman and Minister of Water Resource, Basanta Das, along with other senior officials of the state, held a high level review meeting on flood situation on Wednesday.
For further information, the State Emergency Operation Centre (Toll Free) Number 1070 and District Emergency Operation Centre (Toll Free) Number 1077 have been made available for the public.
The meeting deliberated upon a host of issues ranging from mitigation measures, provision of relief and rescue materials besides taking stock of the extent of damages. In this regard, necessary instructions have been issued to the Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts to provide relief and rescue besides rehabilitation of those affected.
As per the data provided by the Water Resources Dept., embankments have been breached in the districts of Sonitpur, Nalbari, Dhubri, Darrang and Goalpara and the total rainfall received so far up to June 10 is 931mm (Recorded at Chandmari, Guwahati).
Bhumidhar Barman also stated that sufficient food stock and medicines have been kept ready to tackle the flood scenario.
