Dima Haso scam likely to rock Parliament

CPIM general secretary Prakash Karat says that his party would raise the multi crore scam in NC Hills of Assam in parliament. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Monday, Karat said siphonning off money meant for poor people is a grave and an unpardonable crime and that the guilty persons deserve punishment. Karat along with top party leaders held a brainstorming meet to formulate strategy for the upcoming assembly polls in Assam.

There is no positive outcome in the district after scam issue and all the political leaders are busy in making an image for the upcoming election with the in the name of scam issue. The district name should be totally named as DIMA HASAO in every article as suggested...as it is officially accepted in the gazzated offices in the state.

RTI activist Akhil Gogoi on Thursday a day after he was granted bail by the Gauhati High court. Gogoi left the GMCH premises where he was undergoing treatnent since he was remanded to judicial custody. Gogoi was escorted to his home by his fans who shouted anti-govt slogans in the evening. Talking to reporters before leaving the GMCH premises, a visibly upbeat said he and the peasant body would never tone down the voice of protest against big dams and corruption. He said his arrest was a conspiracy to gag the voice of protest. He further said the big ships ferrying the NHPC-owned turbines would not be allowed to proceed.
RTI activist Akhil Gogoi said that his organization will keep fighting for the poor people. Talking to reporters immediately after procuring bail on Wednesday evening, he said KMSS will always raise the voice of protest against the injustice by the ruling clique. Gogoi who was remanded to judicial custody a week ago was granted bail by the Gauhati High Court on Wednesday. Meanwhile, several parties, organisations have hailed the Gauhati High court judgment saying it would boost the morale of the peasants who have been fighting for landrights.
Much to the respite of KMSS, the Gauhati High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Akhil Gogoi in Dispur violence case on June 22. Gogoi was granted bail when a special bench of Justice Anima Hazarika was hearing a bail petition moved last week.

Integrated Farmers Association (IFA) today denounced the inclusion of a non-Manipuri in the Rashtriya Madhyamik Abhiyan eligible list of Manipur Education Department. The association said in a statement that Dr Taiyabur Rehman, an Assamese was found included in the recent RMSA eligible list of the state Education Department. A hardcore ULFA militant was killed two others have been injured at an encounter with security forces in Tinsukia on Sunday. The incident took place at Kailashpur village under Pengeri police station which lasted for nearly 2 hours. Jnyanpith award winning litterateur Dr India Goswami is gradually recovering. Dr Goswami is likely to be shifted to Guwahati within the next couple of days. Dr Goswami was airdashed to a Gurgaon-based hospital following severe cerebral damage a few months back. She suddenly fell ill at her residence in Guwahati and was immediately shifted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital on February 13. When her condition deteriorated she was flown in an air ambulance to New Delhi on February 19 and admitted to the Medanta Medicity where she slipped into coma. She was attended by Dr. Yatin Mehta, chairman of Medanta Institute of Critical Care and Anaesthesiology at The Medicity.
