100 hours NCHills Bandh disrupts normal at Haflong


The NC. Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum sponsored 100 hours N. C. Hills Bandh started from 6 PM on Friday disrupted the normal life at Haflong. Due to 4th Saturday all the offices remain closed. No vehicle was seen on the road except of security.


The NCHISF has been demanding immediate bifurcation of N. C. Hills into two Autonomous District with separate Autonomous Council. The Government has also constituted a task force to deal with them. Last 21st January was fixed for talk in-between task force and the IPF and NCHISF but it was deferred by January 28th. Now both the organizations are demanding immediate solution to their demand.

Dear Sir, On the 6th Aug 2011 we came across an Article publish in your esteem news paper Times of India Guwahati Edition about the 100 Hours Bandh Call by North Cachar Hills Indigenous Peoples Forum (NCHIPF) where you have mention the tribes supporting the organization. I would like to informed the you and the Esteem news paper at the same time that We the KHELMA's of Dima Hasao elswhere NCHILLS dont support the Bandh nor support the Organization North Cachar Hills Indigenous Peoples Forum (NCHIPF). We on behalf of the KHELMA community would like to request you to please clarify on the same in the next article so that the confusion among the tribes are not created. In a joint counter insurgency operation by 25 Assam Riffle and Dima Hasao Police in Kepalo village near Haflong 12 suspected apprehended and recovered one bolt action riffle, ammunition , gelatin stick and incriminating documents of NSCN (IM) on Thursday. In a tragic accident, at least three persons died on the spot and two others injured seriously when two mobikes reported to be pulsar involved in head on collision on 54 E National Highway at Didaodip, near Maibang in Dima Hasao on Tuesday at about 12.30 Pm.
