National Federation of Newspapers Employees has extended moral support to the agitating journalists of Manipur, who have been demanding an unconditional release of an editor of a local daily. The media persons of the State under the banner of All Manipur Working Journalists Union pushed the authority for the release of Ahongsangbam Mobi Singh, editor of Sanaleibak, who was arrested by the police on December 27 for an alleged link with the militants.
Claiming that the charges against the editor are baseless, the Manipur journalists have taken the path of agitation on December 29 and since then no newspapers have been published. Even a local cable television network Information Service Television also stooped airing news since then.
Mobi Singh, who is the vice-president of AMWJU, was produced before an Imphal court same day and he was remanded to police custody till January 5.
NFNE secretary Nava Thakuria has also urged the O. Ibobi Singh government at Imphal to take appropriate actions such that the journalists of the State can function with their wisdom and no way with any fear and dismay.

If Corruption is done away with, India will collapse. Coalition governments are formed with corruption. Every party demands its representation in the Union cabinet to slice off their share of money.
And the poor chaps placed at the borders (as if God made borders) think they are serving someone called 'Bharat mata'!

Kaziranga : One rhino was drowned at Kohora Range in Kaziranga National Park. This is the first reported death of any big animal in the park after floods submerged more then 60% of the park area. Officials believes that the rhino actually died at lest one week ago and was over aged. The horn was intact which proved that it is not a case of poaching.
Guwahati : A Leopard killed one teenaged boy and injured five others on Wednesday in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh district. Police sources informed that 11 years old Dhirsai Garh, son of Maheswar Garh of Bhadoi Panch Ali went to bring back his cattle herd on Wednesday evening when a leopard attacked him. Every year it is observed that the State witnesses an escalation in violence before the Independence Day celebrations and it is easy for militants to wear army fatigues and mingle with the crowd. Guwahati: Guwahati High Court on Wednesday stayed the appointment of 13,318 numbers of Anganabadi Workers in the Social Warfare Department. This would have been the biggest appointment in the second term of the Tarun Gogoi led Congress government. The Social Welfare Department had published a selection list to fill up vacancies in 6659 centers located in various places of the state a few days back. Post this advocate Rita Devi had filed a writ petition at the High Court alleging discrimination in filling up of these vacancies. Guwahati: Popular singer Zubeen Garg and many others joined hands to save Kaziranga National Park, the home of the one horned Rhinoceros in Upper Assam. Park authority informs that at least 60% of the park area was inundated and water level is rising day-by-day covering more area.
