Science Festival held at Nagarbera
A two days long Science Festival and Science Exhibition, organised by the Nagarbera Branch of Assam Science Society and Arjyabhatta Bigyan Kendra on November 3-4 held at Narabera Higher Secondary School campus, with a grand success. In the interaction session, Dr. Dilip Kumar Sarma, College of Veterinary Science, Guwahati; Mowsam Hazarika, Editor, Bijnan Jeuti and Dr. Madhurjya Prasad Bora, Gauhati University has participated. Several programmes like Science Exhibition, Tree Plantation, Science Modal Compettition, Scientific Speach Compettion held to mark the occasion.

The Union Cabinet has approved the Interest Subvention Scheme (ISS) for farmers for the year 2017-18 to help farmers get short term crop loan up to Rs. 3 lakh payable within one year at only 4% per annum. The Government has earmarked a sum of Rs. 20,339 crore for this purpose. The interest subvention will be given to Public Sector Banks (PSBs), Private Sector Banks, Cooperative Banks and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) on use of own funds and to NABARD for refinance to RRBs and Cooperative Banks. Crijaf Sona, a microbial formulation powder used for retting jute fibres, was launched in Guwahati on Monday. The microbial formulation, developed by the Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres (CRIJAF), under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, is expected to increase the income of farmers.
