Nazira Block Congress committee is going to observe death anniversary of t late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at a day long programme at Nazira MC Club on October 31. In this connection a blood donation camp and veteran congress worker's convention is also planned by the organisers.

On the occasion of 48th death anniversary of Kalaguru Brishnu Prashad Rabha on Tuesday, Rava Divas was observed in different places of Nazira region. Statues of three icones of the Assamese society unveiled - KalaguruBrishnu Prashad Rabha, Rup Konwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and Sudhakantha Bhupen Hazarika - were built in the  bank of the Dikhow river. In this connection and remembering the Rabha Divas a public meeting were held on last 20th June,  where MLA of Nazira Debobrate Saikia, ex Minister Hemoprova Saikia, senior journalist Vashkar Borgohain etc were present a long with other signatories.
Freedom fighter, trade union leader and social worker of Nazira Benu Bhuyan breath his last at his own residence on last March 20. He was 85 and survived by his wife and son. On the occasion of the 68th Republic Day all citizens pf our country salute our National Flag and hoisted the Tricolour everywhere as a mark of Honour to it. But it is regret to say that due to the negligence of the teachers of the 310 No Molagaon government L.P. School of Nazira the Tricolour was lying down in the ground and latter Nazira administration recovered it with the police of Nazira police station.Investigation is going on in this regard but no case is registered for it in Nazira police station till today.
The 68th Republic Day observed in different places of Nazira Sub division. A huge scam in health department seems to have raised doubts over the Government’s sincerity to inject new hopes in the entire department. To resolve the burning issue of Assam-Nagaland border and reduce the tention among the people in the border areas, a harmony meeting was organised at Singibill Bazzar on Friday. The meeting was presideed by social activist Hemo gogoi, MP of Jorhat MP Kamakhya Tasa, DC of Sivasagar Narayan Kunwar, SP A.P.Tewari, SDO(C) Syed Zahid Chisty, SDPO of Nazira Rajendra Ojja, Nagaland Forest Minister  P. Panchak, Ex.MLA Chami Aung, border adviser of Nagaland B. Uthi Phum. To maintain the historic harmony of Assam and Nagaland it was unanimously decided in the meeting to continue and exchange peace dialogue between the two states.
CPI leaders and activists in Nazira joined the statewide protest on Wednesday outlining the issues of price hike,   inflation, Flood and erosion. Speakers in the protest meeting demanding immediate measures to mitigate the misery of the common people. In his speech, national executive member   Kanak Gogoi said that the central government has been acting as an agent of the capitalists where the common people are bound to suffer. ULFA(I) virtually scorned the security forces on Monday when the rebels in search of the sovereign Asom exploded a bomb in Charaideo when the district joined the Independence Day on Monday. The explosion took place at Pathaligarh at 8 in the morning which made a huge crater on the spot under the impact of the explosion. There was no casualty or injury.
