Seminar on agar plantation processing
Plantation of Agar wood, the extraction of oil and its commercial value in the world market was widely discussed at the seminar on Agar Wood plantation & processing, organized by A&Z perfumes in collaboration with NEDFi R&D Centre, Khetri, held at Salbari, Salonah under Kaliabor sub-division in Nagaon district of Assam. Abdul Rahman Bin Mukren Almujahed, an Agar businessman from Saudi Arab, graced the seminar as guest of honour. Beside Rahman, Dr. NK Basu, Director of Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI) attended the seminar as the chief guest.
Dr. Basu, the director of RFRI mentioned that the organized plantation of Agar wood is the best way to preserve the valuable tree, which is rarely available in forest. On his speech, he appreciated A& Z perfumes for their organized plantation. The research work on wide genetic infection is going on.
Beside Basu, Dr. N.K. Bora, a plant pathologist described Agar wood as the most expensive wood in the world. He describe about the artificial process extract oil. It is noteworthy to mention that Agar plants takes about 20 years to get infected for the formation of oil. But after adoption of artificial technique it requires about 10 –12 years to infect the plant. This artificial way to create infection in Agar wood is now widely helping the people who are engaged with this business. It will definitely attract more cultivators towards this business., as he told. He moreover mentioned that the Agar oil, which is exported from Assam, is the best in the world.
