Like the other communities of the world, the tai-ahom community of assam observe one of their harvest festival as Ai-Jong-Lao. In tai language Ai-jong-lao means the welcoming the wealth. The Tai-Ahom villagers of Bokota-Japihojia of Sivasagar district observed this festival after a gap of seven years with traditional rituals.
In tai language, two "Mehenga" i.e. Thapona is established with bamboo ,bannana tree and Tokow (a kind of palm). In these "Mehenga's all the ceremonial offerings of Tai-Ahom like. luk-lao,i.e.rice bear, honey, pig,goat,kai,i.e. cook,nook-pet,i.e.duck are offered to please the "God of Wealth".The rituals are performed according to Molung i.e. pandit. The individual ceremonial offerings also arranged by the villagers. Before starting the main function, a huge possession traditional instruments, Dhol, Mridong and Bortal went to Diroi river at a distance of 4 kilometer to collect water for the main puja.In this function, animals also sacrificed for god. After it, the main puja is started. The day-long festivel is started early in the morning and it last for till mid-night.
