100 hours NC Hills bandh

In demand for the bifurcation of NC Hills into two Autonomous districts under 3 (C) of Articles 244 (2) & 275 (1) of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India, the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students Forum (NCHISF) has given a 100 hours N. C. Hills Bandh from 4 AM of July 12.

The bringing of the bandh will not solve the problems of people like you and me. why do the people dont get in their mind of living in peace n harmony? The creation and division mind of the political leaders and the outfits will not do good for the common. you and i live in the land not only on individual. i pray for those who is still yet to understand the anger cloudy environment in the peace land of N.C.Hills.

Hill Queen Passengers injured

At least eight passengers including five women of Lumding bound Hill Queen train were injured when the lead engine rammed with the standing train at Lower Haflong on Friday. The injured persons were given first aid and seriously injured persons were sent to Haflong Civil Hospital. Troops of MADRAS REGIMENT under Headquarter 22 Sector Assam Rifles launched a joint Operation along with Police on morning of July 22 on specific information about the presence of a group of armed cadres of Dimasa National Revolutionary Front (DNRF) in general area of Maibang, Dima Hasao District. Arms recovered at Haflong

In a joint counter insurgency operation by 25 Assam Riffle and Dima Hasao Police in Kepalo village near Haflong 12 suspected apprehended and recovered one bolt action riffle, ammunition , gelatin stick and incriminating documents of NSCN (IM) on Thursday. The documents included list of 278 cadres with code and Identity no, receipt book etc. Interrogation is on. Police hoped more vital information relating to NSCN activities in the district of Dima Hasao would be revealed from these apprehended suspects. Rehabilitation bid to surrendered militants

As a proactive measure to resurrect the life of the persons who bid good bye to militancy and as an effort to amalgamate them with the mainstream, the Haflong based Assam Riffles setup under the aegis of Dimapur based 3 Corps has initiated a unique rehabilitation programme for the surrendered cadres of various militant outfits. Three died, two injured in road mishap

In a tragic accident, at least three persons died on the spot and two others injured seriously when two mobikes reported to be pulsar involved in head on collision on 54 E National Highway at Didaodip, near Maibang in Dima Hasao on Tuesday at about 12.30 Pm. The injured were brought to Maibang Rural Hospital immediately for treatment. Those who died in the incident were identified as Kaushik Kemprai, 16, Raju Tanti, 17 and Biprab Warisa, 16.
