Mousham and Sangita bring glory to Barpeta

Barpeta district shines in the HSLC results that was declared on May 20. 10 candidates shined in the top 20. Jugal Talukdar stood first position from Choukhuti High school. Two candidates from Barpeta Sankardev Vidya Niketan stood 9th and 17th position. Mousham Das who stood 9th position is the son of Chakradhar Das, Assam Gramin VIkash Bank employee and Anjali Das. Talking to this correspondent, Mousham said that he expected more than this result, he was not satisfied with his results. He studied 6-7 hours in a day and his parents and teachers are his main source of inspiration. "Ashidinat Prithivi Paribhraman" by Jul Vern is his favorite book. He wants to be a doctor and will admit either in M.C. College, Barpeta or in Cotton college, Guwahati. He secured a total of 560 - Eng- 95, As- 82, Gs- 98, SS- 90, Adv Maths- 96, Gm- 96. He had private tuition in GM, AM ENG and As.


On the contrary Sangita Devi stood 17th position from the same school in Barpeta. She is the daughter of Kumud Sarma, eletrical engineetr, Barpeta and Kalpana Devi. Talking to this cporrespondent she expressed that she got more than her expectation. She secured a total of 552 -As- 80, Eng-89, GS-97, SS- 92, Adv Maths- 97, GM- 97. She will read at pathsala junior college and want to be a doctor in future,. " Chiraj" is her favourite book and Lakshminath Bezbaruah is her favorite author. Mentionable that this year 120 candidates will be able to shine in the top 20. Among those except the above Dipangkali sarma stood 4th position from Sarupeta High school,Barpeta( Total marks 565), 15th position by Rui Das, Sarupeta Sishu Sankar Niketan,Sarupeta, Barpeta( Total Marks- 554), Abinash Das stood 16th position From Pathsala Sikshapith, Adarsha High school, Barpeta( Total Marks-553), Again 16th podsition by Gunajit Deka of Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Bahari, Barpet( Total Marks - 553), Debajit Talukdar,- 19th position from Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Bhawanipur, Barpeta ( Total Marks- 550), 19th Position- Bubumani kalita from Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Pathasala, Barpeta( Total Marks -550), and Suranjana Patowary ,from St. Mary's High School,Barpeta road, Barpeta( Total Marks-549).


THis year a total of 15,202 candidates appeared in the HSLC examination and among those 1081 -1st div, 2204-2nd div., and 7948 -3rd div. The percentage f passing in the entire district is 73.89. Barpeta district is in third positiion in the state

Jail Bhoro program of CPI (ML)

Barpeta district CPI(ML) today observed jail-bhoro programme protesting against the skyrocketing price hike and the continuous corruption in implementing the various NREGA schemes of the entire district. The district unit took out a procession with slogan against the governments towards the deputy commissioner's office and in front of Deputy commissioner's office they staged demonstration. World olders' day observed in Barpeta

World Olders' Day has been observed under the aegis of Soceity for Human Resource Development (Assam) at Tarun Ram Phukan Hall, Barpeta. Barpeta AGP unit stage dharna against price-hike of essential commodities

The sudden price hike of the essential commodities has made the life of the general people miserable. The state government has completely failed to control the price hike. Barpeta district AGP has taken out a protest march on September 14 and later on staged demonstration at the DC office premises. The organisation also submitted a memorandum to the DC Barpeta to take appropriate measures on the sudden price hike of the essential commodities.

Denmonstration of Gramin Dak Sewak union at Barpeta

Barpeta district Gramin Dak Sevak union today staged two-hours-long demonstration at Barpeta post office premises demanding to submit the report of 6th pay commission. Mahapurush Sri Sri Madhabdeva tithi observed at Barpeta

The death anniversary of Mahapurush Sri Sri Madhabdeva was observed at Barpeta Satra (Assamese monastery) by conducting a traditional Kirtan Mahotsava. Kirtans are devotional songs sang in the local language. According to the tradition, a regular prasanga(prayer) was held in the morning and later the gayan- bayans performed gurughata and then Bhojan Byebahaar was held. In the evening Ghosa Kirtan, Byah Kirtan, and at night Bardemeli were performed. In Dakshin Hati, devotees of Sri Sri Madhabdeva took out procession in accordance with the xatriya tradition. A fortnightly workshop on Goalpariya Folk Dance was held here at Barpeta from Aug 12/09 to Aug 26/09 organized by The Directorate of Cultural Affairs at the premises of Barpeta Cultural Centre. Anganwadi workers staged demonstration

Barpeta district Anganbadi workers/ helpers Association staged a 4-hour demonstration at DC office premises on September 1 protesting to fulfill their various demands. In a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, it was stated that they have been urging the govt to fulfill their demands, but all are futile. In their demands payment of the enhanced rate on central govt salary to the workers; 80% reservation in the vacant post of the chief service women, upgradation of the helpers in the vacant post of Anganwadi workers, stop the work of ICDS to the NGOs.
