Siblings drown in Sivasagar
Two siblings namely Nikhil Tasa (7) & Parinita Tasa (6) of Sivasagar Phukan Nagar lost their life in a roadside water flow near Pioli Phukon Stadium, Sivasagar at 1 pm on May 19. Their elder brother left them in their school (Phukon Nagar LP School) in the morning. But they didn't attend class and came to the stadium where the road was broken and full of water. They misjudged the water level & drowned instantly while trying to cross it. People around them saw and tried to rescue them but failed. The dead bodies were sent for postmortem.

Jakir Ali of class 2 of Sivasagar Amgurighat has returned home who was kidnapped on June 28. He was kidnapped by a black dressed person at 7.30 am on June 28 from Dikow Bridge with another person who was driving a vikram. He was kept in a godown near Sivasagar railway station. The kidnappers locked him and didn't provide food. Jakir found a hole in the go down and escaped. Then he met a rikshaw puller and the rickshaw puller dropped him at his home. A FIR was registered. Investigation is going on.
A rare kind of monkey found on June 13 at Sivasagar Tennis Club. Some teenagers saw the monkey at the tennis club premises which is near the Sivasagar pond. They informed the forest department which is situated nearby. Some forest personnel caught the monkey and took it at the forest office. The department told the press that they will free up the monkey at the forest.
