BSNL staff goes on indefinite strike beginning 20 April
The telecom subscribers of incumbent operator BSNL are going to witness decline of services from today morning all over the country as joint action committee formed by majority executives and non-executives has joined hand for indefinite strike beginning 20 April 2010. The agitation will be intensive with each passing day demanding settlement of ITS absorption, immediate procurement of mobile equipment, pension in IDA pay scales to retired employees etc.
In Assam and all over north-eastern region the services are expected to hit badly as non- maintenance of fault will further leads to overall decay in mobile, broadband and 3G services. The JAC protest is mainly on Sam Pitroda committee report asking for upto 30% disinvestment, retrenchment of around 1 lakh employees, un-bundling of last mile copper wire and outsourcing of crucial works.
Besides major of BSNL association and unions all other labour unions has fully supported it. In Guwahati circle office as well as all the other SSA of BSNL has remain shut for customer due to strike. However, one executive association AIGETOA is not part of this ongoing strike.

Most of the roads connecting Nagaon with Jagi Road, Dimapur, Tezpur are in such a dire state that travelling through these are becoming to be real nightmare for citizens.
