Nagaon: An evening of cultural extravaganza
The people of Nagaon recently witnessed a cultural evening on Sunday, July 19, which is purely an extravaganza offering mix of song, music, dance and play i.e; a complete cultural show encashing all form of arts in one. The evening was dedicated to Bangla poet Rabindra Nath Tagore and Assamia literature icon Bishnu Prasad Rabha on the occasion of their birth anniversaries. The evening was held in Nagaon Bangali Sammelani Audotarium to its full capacity located in the main city area of town M G Road. As the evening was truly an experience of all form of cultural round-up starting with Rabindra Sangeet comprising both songs and dance items, the credit for organizing such a beautiful event goes to Indian People’s Theatre Association(IPTA), Nagaon chapter and “Natyanjali” , a city based dance organization, who jointly takes all the pain to arrange such a fusion program. Lastly, but not the least one is one play too is enacted by IPTA members. The group dance was a treasure to see primarily due to tender age particapants taking the stage ahead with their preparation and dedicated efforts. The show was sponsored by BSNL, Nagaon office, which is good sign for cultural body to get breathe by corporate involvement in much larger scale in near future.

The youth Pritam Bhattacharjee went missing from Naugachia railway station on July 9 finally traced down at Kataria foot over-bridge on Sunday in murdered position. While travelling in Awadh-Assam Express (he boarded the train at Guwahati on 8 July) train he went down the station in search of missing lap-top bag taken by four youths. But, later he went missing from the station premises.Finally, police came into action but they could bot trace him till he was alive. The reason for his abduction-turned-murder is seems to be his lap-top, but police is yet to establish the real reason behind the motive.
A 18 years girl body was found by Naugachia police on last Wednesday and the available papers with girl body identified her as native of Assam. The body was later buried by police on Saturday. A police team led by GRP, Naugachia had been sent to Assam to investigate the matter deeply.

As the Assam assembly election date is approaching the Nagaon citizens are waking-up with development works of present Govt. knocking at their doors at the end of almost five years long wait. The passing of each day is here witnessed by some by-lanes of this city being dugged, repaired and renovated with fresh coating of bitumen. The sleep mode of Govt. bodies now seems to be turning ON at right time when these ‘road-show’ will at-least make voters stand softer on Govt. so called neglecting attitude towards developmental work in totality.

The Nagaon district administration is gearing-up to hold coming legislative assembly constituency (LAC) election of the Assam State in the district on 11 April, 2011. Addressing here the media person Nagaon DC Dr M Angamuthu said that for all the 11 LACs under Nagaon district namely, Raha, Dhing, Batradawa, Rupohihat, Nagon, Barhampur, Samaguri, Kaliabor, Jamunamukh, Hojai and Lumding notification will be issued on 18 March’11 as per Chief Election Commissioner of India notfication.

The wait is over. 3G services by state-owned BSNL is going to be available for mobile subscribers of Nagaon Telecom District from 5 March'2011 covering Nagaon, Diphu and Kaliabor parliamentary constituencies. The ongoing quest for Cricket World Cup-2011 has made me wonder that really our Indian team is prepared for it. The much hyped preparation seems to be very strong on paper and we are nothing compare to other team when it comes to fielding, bowling etc. except strong batting line-up. Even after so much strong batting line-up we are not much confident and highly pessimistic about our batsman performance, so that we are still continuing with 7 batsman.

The early morning Yoga Camp of Baba Ramdev at Nehru Bali field at Nagaon on Sunday finally ends with call to fight against corruption spreaded all over the country. Besides benefitting to large gathering of crowds in the Yoga Camp, he urges to save this country by eradicting corrution at root level itself.
Later, Baba Ramdev left for Delhi today to lead the ‘Padya-Yatra’ march to Rastrapati Bhawan as symbol of protest against corruption and it is part of his national program as war against envailing corrupt regime in the country everywhere.The program was organised by Patanjali Vidyapeeth, Nagaon local chapter in association with Bharat Swabhimaan, Assam wing.
The pedestrian as well as vehicle owners are having harrowing time while moving on Nagaon road now-a-days due to menace created by stray dogs, bulls and cows roaming freely on main roads. it not only leads to delay in vehicular movements, but frequent hazards to pedestrian, two-wheeler drivers by sudden attack cum movement of animals are very common.
