Mithinga freed from jail

ULFA publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary was freed on Thursday 48 hours after he procured bail from a local TADA court. The jailed ULFA top gun who has been languishing in Guwahati after he was captured in Bhutan during Operatrion All Clear, was freed on Thursday in presence of his family members who later took away him to his birth place Barama in Nalbari district of Assam. His release is significant in view of the stepped up efforts to hold talk between government and the ULFA. Another ULFA leader vice chairman Pradeep Gogoi is also set to be freed in a day or two. His was also granted bail on Tuesday by a TADA court which is considered to be a significant steps for holding talk with the government.

BREAKING NEWS: ULFA Caught at Jalandhar in Punjab

Guwahati : Punjab Police today caught a ULFA leader Hemanta Roy from Jalandhar town on Monday. This was informed by the Assam Police. Four more Hindi-speaking persons killed in Assam on Saturday evening

Diphu : Militants again shot dead four Hindi speaking people in Karbi-Anglong district on Saturday late night. Police said a group of 10-15 heavily armed militants abducted six persons of two family, including a woman, from upper Deihori village and took them to Rongbong ghat under Shantipur out post of Bokajan police station, lined them up and fired indiscriminately. Four persons died on the spot while two other managed to escape with heavy injury. The deceased were identified as Mohan Kanu, 35; his wife Sheela Gupta, 30; Nandalal Swami, 20; and Mahabir Swami, 25. Police kill ULFA at Lichubari Hillock near Hengerabari, GHY on Thursday Evening
