The United Liberation Front of Asom will never talk to the government if they are forced to be lodged in jail. Disclosing this chairman of the banned insurgent outfit Arabinda Rajkhowa said they will not write it to the Centre from inside the jail. Rajkhowa was rushed to the Regional Dental College in Guwahati on Tuesday. This development comes a day after Union Home minister P Chidambaram said the Centre was waiting for a written communique from the outfit for holding talk. Chidambaram, further said the government can't wait for an indefinite period of time only because of Commander in Chief Paresh Baruah. He said talk is possible sans Paresh Baruah.

This is a very good decison. Should not talk process between ULFA and Govt from jail or with Handcraft. Govt should negociate something and also ULFA see it again.....

Maybe there will be a kind of talk, but I don't think the insurgency problem will be solved in seven sisters region if the Indian govt. does not change its policy towards the region. History repeats itself. Rajkhowa gone some one else will come out soon, as Fiju gone IM-K came out. What a unmatured way of solving problems!

Sonari police recovered a huge cache of explosives during a joint operation with army in Bahbari area on Saturday. But the ULFA men managed to vanish from the spot. Much to utter disappointment to the Assamese community in Delhi, a Delhi university student committed suicide on Saturday. Five security personnel guarding Water Resources Minister Rajib Lochan Pegu have been injured when their vehicle collided with a dumper truck at Golaghat on Saturday. The incident took place on the National Highway 37 near Dergaon when Pegu’s convoy was on its way from Jorhat to Guwahati. The driver is understood to have lost control over the pilot car before it rammed into the dumper truck. Three of whom are stated to be in serious condition. Dispur is contemplating an education and employment generation panel to link up the two so that the youth could get jobs with their education. According to chief minister Tarun Gogoi, said economic development of the state, education, employment generation and farmers were its top priorities. He further said that his government is mooting to launch a state nutrition mission to tackle the problems of anaemia and malnutrition, found among the women and children of Assam.
